Something I drew while chilling out at Aki-con. It's a sketch, scanned in, and then digitally colored in Photoshop. It was kind of an excuse to practice coloring, lighting and all that jazz. Still need more practice... I'm just really tried of looking at this now. Thanks to my boyfriend for his critique and input.
Just wanted to draw Yarrow (my alien character) with his shoulder bag. Satchel. Whatever you call it... just don't call it a purse. (It's a MAN purse.)
Murses always make me giggle. >_> My high school English teacher had a 'urse' and he always yelled at us, "It's a satchel! People in Europe use them!" Men and their defense of their murses. :3
The light angle is really dramatic, making his overal figure and shape just pop. Loving that textured background, as it looks more deep then just a texture...like some sort of wall in a dark alleyway. His Purse-...SATCHEL looks quite nice, and very accurate too, for some reason. And I like how you demonstrated his hood over his ears! Really comes off quite nice...and showing the dim glow of his big ol' eyeballs. Just very cool atmosphere over all.
